This year was my first easter as a married woman, and my first easter away from my childhood home in Canada and all my extended family. Oh and my dog Pepper. I miss my dog and his running around after me, trying to get me to play tag, or fetch. He is very loved and you can tell cause he is the only dog from his litter(family) that is alive today. All of his bro's and sis's have died off.
Anyways back to my Easter weekend. Good Friday my hubby and I got up and watched a service from T.D Jakes on the Telly. He did a great job, I found his message to really touch base with some personal things - that I think I may look in to getting this message on dvd in the future. Once or twice I'v even asked my hubby if he could find a job near the church so we could hear T.D Jakes every Sunday.lol Friday afternoon was when my parents arrived. They were just in time for lunch. The only thing was I had not prepared enough, I was not expecting them so soon- or maybe Jason and I ate late that day. hehe who knows. So after I prepared some more lunch, we all ate and then headed out to do some shopping. My fridge was so empty. I don't think it has been that empty since we first moved in. I needed to do some serious grochery shopping. Friday night we watched Johnny Q. My mom really wanted to see the movie. I recommend it to any movie buff.
Saturday was our take it easy day, well it was suppose to be. We all tried to sleep in but I don't think any of us slepted passed 8 or 9 am. We had a nice breakfest that my mom made for us. She got a smart idea to use my silicone muffin cup tray to cook eggs for on our egg mcmuffins. They fit perfectly on the buns. The rest of Saturday we were planning to just sit back and relaxe at the house (well everyone but my hubby who had collage work to do). But we ended up at Walmart and Sams Club for most of the afternoon instead even my hubby came with. :) In the evening we had our big Easter dinner. Turkey, stuffing, peas, the works and strawberry pie for dessert. It was nice getting some qulity time with my parents in. I hope they enjoyed themselves.
Sunday afternoon my hubby and I had dinner with his parents. Only about an hour away from our place. His brother was home from collage so I think they both enjoyed getting to spend some time together. They were really close friends growing up and I can tell that they still are. I hope my kids are really close growing up, whenever we deside to have some.
So that was my Easter weekend. Different from what I am used to being the norm, but very exciting!
I remember my first holiday away from my family, it was Thanksgiving... it was tough at first cause it was new and I had experienced just about as many "new" things that one person could - much like you!! Time for some new memories with your own spin, your own flair that you can then pass on to your kids. It will get easier...
ReplyDeleteJust wait until you have your first holiday where you have to do all the cooking!! That was stressful!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI so missed our time together as a big family this easter. Some day when we both have families we can get together and prepare our own meals!
