What a Monday

No power in our home means not just dark rooms, dark corners, and a very nervous me, but it means no communication with the outside world at all. Unless of course my cell phone is charged up like it is suppose to be.

Yesterday evening turned out to be a very interesting one for me and my little Baby K.  Not only was Hubby/Daddy coming home later then what we were used to but around 530-6ish the power decided to go out.   So there I was in a slowly darkening house with my one year old baby, trying not to freak out. ( I do not like the dark or for that matter being alone in the dark.) So there I was feeling completely helpless. If my cell phone had been charged then I would of  had a way to communicate with the Hubby but I didn't even have that.

I did get one bright idea. Across the street from us is a dollar store.  I though if I take Baby K for a walk I could buy one of those cheap phones that do not need to be plugged in. Then at least I have some way of communicating with the outside world. Thus began my race with the sun.  I quickly got Baby K in a sweater and shoes, got myself all ready and out the door we went.  It was far more humid and warm outside then I thought, but I didn't have time to turn around to throw our jackets etc back in the house. I wanted to get to the dollar store and back home again before the sun completely set.  Would you know I got to the end of the complex drive way and I finally noticed the dollar store was completely black. No lights.  Same with the gas station beside it.  I did notice beside the gas station a large fire truck, and ambulance, but nothing else.  So back home Baby K and I went.  Both of us were wet from the misty rain. I was over heating due to the damp warm air and my hair was doing curly frizz thing.
Thankfully while we were somewhere between the dollar store and home the power came back on.

Hubby finally arrived home around 7ish.  He made a great comment about how I must of spent extra time on my hair due to it's curliness. I quickly corrected him.  I did nothing but run the straightener threw my hair.

I did learn my lesson.  I will never let my cell phone go for days without charging it again.  Things seem to happen so quickly and unexpectedly I never know when I may really need it.

Today Baby K thought it would be fun to play behind my pile of vacuum bags. I really have no idea what she was doing but it looked soo silly!

  1. i def don't like being home alone in the dark either... so i can relate! you could always buy one of those AA-battery chargers for your phone (I think it takes a AA). my husband bought me one for when i went to a music fest one year without him. it comes with an adapter for all different kinds of phones... and then you plug a AA-battery into it and plug it into your phone when you need it charged! can prob find it on ebay! not the best way to keep a charge on your phone, but might be nice to have in a pinch!

  2. Wow, what a day! We were thinking of you on Jason's first long day. I'm glad the power wasn't out any longer than it was. It's neat to see Kaylin learning to create her own fun.
